Coach Jeff Commings (Dolphins of the Desert, Tucson) has been elevated to the highest coaching level (IV) as a USMS coach! Less than 2% of USMS coaches achieve this level of coaching.
Jeff also deserves a back slap for his World Championship performances in Singapore. More than 4,000 swimmers from all continents (except Antarctica) and all walks of life attended the World Aquatics Masters swimming world championships early August.
He hadn’t raced in a world championship meet in nearly 20 years. He competed in the 50-54 age group and swam the following:
- Gold in the 50 breast (a world championship meet record, 50-54, :29.48)
- Gold in the 200 IM (2:17.88)
- Silver in the 100 breast (1:07.87)
- Silver in the 100 back (1:03.01)
- Bronze in the 50 back (:29.43)
Jeff is an amazing athlete, coach, and human being.
